Swam today

I managed to swim today. I did my 32 laps in 50 mins which is a 5 min improvement :). Then I managed to do a total of 40 laps in 60 mins. I swam 2000 yards which is the distance of a half iron man. I can't believe I went so far. And I am still slightly sick. So its quiet the accomplishment ;). I haven't worked out since Saturday because I have been down and out with this cold.

First BRICK

So today was my first ever brick. It was different and cool all at the same time.
First we ran 1.7 miles, then we rode our bike 8 miles, then ran another 1.7 miles. Some people choose to do 1.7, 12, 2.4 but I went for the shorter distance mostly since I am slow :). I did it though and in not to bad of time. I felt icky with this cold and my legs are a little sore now but I still did it :). So that was a great day.

Thursday OYO swim

So today I really wanted to get a full hour in. I wanted to see how far I could go in that amount of time. So I started doing 150's (which is 3 laps in a row no breaks) and it really speed me up. I also am taking less breaks between laps. When I first started I needed breaks between each 25. Then I made it 50 and felt amazing. Now I am doing 150s and barely breaking between them sometimes. It is so great to see progress and feel so good about my training.
I did a total of 32 laps, 1600 yards, one lap shy of 1 mile. But the perfect amount for my race! And I did it in 55 mins.

Fundraising is going good to, so its a win win so far for me.

Wednesday Run

So Wednesday was my first run practice back after a 4 plus week break. It was a good and bad practice.
Before having to take the break I was at about a 15 min mile if I pushed myself. The first mile last night I did in 14:20 with walking and running. It was great to actually have a better time than when I got hurt. Means all the cross training is paying off and keeping me from falling behind. At least during my race I will finish in 90 mins the run part :). Today at physical therapy I actually felt good while running on the treadmill. Might have to do that more often just to give my legs a break. I was sad yesterday after my run because I really felt bad about run/walking. But today after thinking about it I realized that was a good time and I did great for my first night back.

Swam today

Did 10 laps aka 500 yards today. Tuesday after a team swim practice is probably not the best time to swim. I really should bike on Tuesdays. I need an indoor trainer. I will have to work on that next :). But it was still a good swim for what I was able to do in about 25 min.

Saturday December 11th

Had a 2.79 mile warm up ride then a 9.79 mile time trial. I had a 13mph pace which is an improvement last week when I had an 11 mph pace. I am doing good for only getting on the bike once a week. The goal for the rest of the month is to work on energy. My eating and energy levels are not good. I get over the 30 min mark and I start getting weak. Something to work on.

Training so far this week

Training is going great. I am swimming lots and getting a few miles on the bike. I walked 3.5 miles on Saturday December 4th and rode 16.68 miles on Sunday December 5th.
Had swim practice on Monday December 6th and Tuesday I was back in the pool while the kids did swim lessons. All in all its been a good training week so far.

Monday practice with the Team, Tues OYO

We had another swim practice Monday. It was just what I needed to get me re-energized. I did the whole hour with drills and laps. Didn't track my laps but it was a great night. Tonight I did 10 laps in about 30 mins. I can feel my form getting better, my breathing is better and I feel faster. I am improving with every lap.

Another 13 miles down

Today I rode from my driveway and did 13 miles. It was great. Torched about 450 calories :) and went uphill the whole way home. I just thought I was weak until I spoke with a friend who has done that trail and she told me. Made my day :). So here is a picture of me with my bike (Jeremy helping) and getting ready to head out. Got my new clipless pedals and Chris's shirt I am good to go. Chris even took a video as I left the driveway. There are more pictures I will post later.

Swam today

Well since I am on a 4 week break from running (insert crying person here) I am swimming more and the goal is to bike more too. So far the darkness has kept me off my bike. I did 22 laps today (50 yards a lap) for a total of 1100 yards in 45 mins. I was supposed to do 50 mins but my shins started getting achy. I went home did core and my physical therapy exercises and called it a good day. I am not thrilled about the break my shins are all tore up. Hopefully at the end of the 4 weeks I will be good as new, or better in fact. I have a whole bunch of exercises to do everyday to strengthen my hips, shins and calfs. I am going to do my core workout with my PT workout. I go to PT twice a week for the next 4 weeks. Well there it is.

losing a pant size

Not sure where it went but its disappearing :). I wore my size 10s today. I am not down in pounds but probably because I am gaining muscle with all this triathlon training. I am hungry all the time. And if I don't eat its physically painful. It feels good to be losing inches :). I will have to remeasure soon.

First swim practice

Had my first swim practice on Monday. I learned a lot in the 1 hour of practice. I implemented some of it today during my swim. I didn't go to run practice since I am not running for a couple weeks while my legs get better. I swam 500 yards and did most of it in the good form. I still need work but its getting better each time I get in the water. Doing good.

First Bike ride

Rode 13 miles today. Did a 3 mile warm up and then a 10 mile ride to Seward park in Seattle. I can't believe I did it. That is half the distance of my Triathlon ride. I am stoked about it. The first three miles took about 17 mins and the 10 miles took about 48. I am thinking that by the end of the 5 months I will have that time trimmed down. I am tired though :).

Swim done

Another swim done. We swam 600 meters again tonight. We did 2x 100 meter sets. A bunch of 50s and I don't think any 25s. But I could be mistaken. I think we did really good. It felt good and it was a great workout. I really enjoy swimming. Next week I start my coached swims and that will be great too.

Workout done!

So tonight I did level 2 of the 30 day shred for some core and strength. Not sure if its really what my coaches want but I think it will work for now :). My shines are still killing me no matter what I do and taking a break didn't help either. So I am just going to keep pushing on. Perhaps I will make an appointment at medical. We shall see.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Ran yesterday, 29 mins, 1.63 miles. I am at an 18 min mile right now but I know at one point i was doing over 2 miles in the 29-31 min range. I am just slower right now because I am spending to much time worring about what I am doing right and not letting my natural motion move me.
Today I went to swim 400 meters. I ended up swimming 600 meters. I was pretty proud of that. I did a couple 50 meter jaunts without stopping so that was good. Improving everytime I go. I think part of it is just getting back into the swing of things with swimming. Its been a long time.

We put a deposit down on my bike so I hope to have that by the first practice November 13th. Things are coming together. I am so excited!

new measurements

so I took my measurements the other day. my hip are the same 41". However my waist is down to 37". which is a 1.75" drop since October 11th. That is a great feeling. I am hovering between 157-158 which is good too. just need to keep on keeping on. I think I will do pictures at the end of November. Should be good.

Monday November 1

Swam today for my workout.  I love swimming days.  Its a work out let me tell you.  I did 7 round trip laps or 14 laps depending on how you count :).  Either way it equaled 350 meters.  Its a 25 meter pool.  That is 50 more meters than last week.  Wednesday the goal is to get to 400 meters.  I also did 1 full lap of 50 meters, rested then did another 50 meters and rested.  I am getting better with the face in the water thing.  I need to work on a smooth transition to breathing out of the water but its a work in progress and I am making great progress.  I notice a huge difference in the efficiency of my swim with my face down.  And when I pull up it feels like more work.  Which it is.  Eating is doing ok.  Portion sizes staying under control and trying to avoid the candy LOL.  Darn Halloween.

Working out so far

Tuesday I went for a run.  Did about 1.7 miles in 31 mins.  Not great time but I got my shins to stop hurting so one problem solved.  And thats what its all about.  I came back feeling great.  It was raining but it felt great.

Wednesday I got in the pool on base and swam 300 meters which is great for me.  Attempted to do the face down breathing thing.  I did ok.  Something to work on and keep at it.  I am going to get this done.

Next goal is to find and buy a bike.  I am off to a good start but the paying part is a work in progress.  Those are not cheap.

So far I am feeling good about my workouts and loving all the different types.  Can't wait to start training with my team.

Switching gears.... AGAIN

But this time for a good reason.  I have signed up to do a triathlon with Team in Training.  I am super excited and can't wait to get started.  The training starts in 2 weeks and we go to Hawaii April 3 to compete. Its going to be busy.  I am going to try to keep this site updated as well as my fundraising site.  But don't be surprised if this one falls behind a bit :).

Workout was good. Probably could have pushed a little more but my knees are hurting and I was feeling kind of bleh today so it was just a so so workout I guess. Anyway I did it and that is the important part.

Workout ~ Well I was feeling all run down and not like working out but as you have probably noticed cause I have, I always feel better after a good sweat session. So I jumped up and did my workout. Gave it my all and felt great. I am glad I did it. 4 days into it almost done with my first week. I got this! Wednesday and/or Thursday tend to be my most difficult days to workout. Not sure why. But its done so there :).

October 13th Day 3

Lunch ~ Healthy Choice portabella pasta in marsala sauce

Dinner ~ Olive Garden Salad, breadsticks, 1/4 plate of fetticine alfredo, 1/2 a piece of cheesecake

Workout was good.  The slim in 6 seems to do more for me in some ways and less in others.  I am sure its just different workouts doing different things keeping my muscles guessing.  Going to finish the week with Start It Up the first DVD only 25 min and next week move on to the 45 min video Ramp It Up.
I went out to eat and allowed some splurging.  I made weight today Coast Guard officially weighed me in at 158.  So I allowed myself to celebrate.  But I still worked out today, limited my portions and didn't let myself feel guilty.  Life is too short.  I will reach my goals, of that I have no doubts.  It feels good to be under 160 :).  Go me!

October 12th Day 2

Breakfast ~ two slices wheat toast with peanut butter

Lunch ~ Turkey sandwich, spinach, cheddar cheese on wheat bread

Dinner ~ 1 chicken tender breast, 1/2 cup loaded mashed potatoes (instant) and mixed veggies

Worked out twice today.  The first was at 11, and it was a not so great attempt at a run.  I can't believe how bad it went.  I walked most of it but still did 30 mins so not terrible and better than not going at all.  Tonight did Start It Up! again and it was good.  I was feeling tight and sore all day so it was a good chance to stretch those muscles.  I think I will be moving up in videos sooner than I thought.  More because I have been doing this amount of time for a bit now and I think I need to challenge my body some more.  Hopefully tomorrow I can do that but if nothing else I will do the Ramp It Up! on Saturday.  Good day, lots of water, just got to stick to it.

Day 1 of the next 6 weeks

October 11, 2010
Today was the first day of the start of my slim in 6.  It was a good workout.  It hurt in different places :).  I also was checking myself out while doing push ups and damn my arms looked good :).  I also noticed that keeping up with them wasn't as hard.  Got a good burn but didn't need the breaks like the first time I started this in April 2010.  So my overall fitness has improved.  Tomorrow I will go for a walk/run during lunch and then do another round of Start It Up! at home after doggie classes.

Breakfast ~ 1 piece wheat toast, with peanut butter, no regular butter (never done that before)
Lunch ~ half of a tuna sandwich with cheddar cheese, 1 piece string cheese.
Dinner ~ 1/2 egg, 1/2 egg white breakfast burrito with steak, mushrooms and garlic.  Banana I was craving one.  How weird is that?

Fairly decent water intake today, although I can feel that I need more.  Tried a sip of kool aid and man was it sweet.  I am actually not minding the more bland diet that Chris suggested.  No sour cream on my burrito.  That is a first too.  I thought I would miss some of these things but I don't.  I guess what they say is true.  Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.  Official weight this morning was 160.6.  Measurements were the same I think but I have them written somewhere else.  Well that is it for tonight.  More tomorrow :).

WORKED OUT!!

Finally I think I am getting back on track.  I think there were two things at play that were messing me up.  One is that DH was working out with me so my workouts were not as good.  I found that I prefer to work out alone, at my own pace.  Second was my eating was getting to low.  I need to bump it back up.  I went a little to far but I think I have it figured out now and am back on track.  So Monday I am going to start another round of Slim in 6.  I will post the new start and end dates.  I won't do days worked out I don't think but we shall see.  It was kind of cool to see the ticker move.  Perhaps I can find one that counts down for me without my input....
Anyway Chris is helping me with food for the next couple weeks and I am going to do Slim in 6 combined with running three days a week.  I keep trying the running.  I really want to run, so that has to count for something :).  Be back on Monday with food journals, work out journal and all around feeling better blog :).

September 30th Day 4

Breakfast ~ Half an instant packet of cream of wheat, half a glass of orange juice

Dinner ~ 1 piece home made apple pie, few bites of spaghetti, 1 piece of garlic bread, 12 oz of Dr Pepper

Not my best eating day but not overly terrible... OK it was horrible.  No snacks and pie instead of dinner.  What was I thinking.  My workout went good though.  I had to take it easy on the jumping with my shins being hurting again but I am just pushing through this time.  No wimping out for me.  The run was great today.  I ran just over 2 miles in 26 mins.  So thinking I could do 2.5 miles in 30 mins.  The goal is 3 miles in 30 mins.  I am going to do this.  Once I can run the whole 30 mins/3 miles I will start doing my marathon training.

Workout was great.  I hate to say it but I think I prefer to work out alone.  I like the "me" time.  With Chris there I feel silly and don't want to push to hard and make him feel bad.  Alone I will push myself a little harder.  My shins are acting up again :( so ice and motrin it is.  I just have to keep at it.  They will get better and especially as the weight comes off.  I will not have so many aches and pains as the pounds melt away.  I am going to look for a book tomorrow that might have a training log in it also.  I think I will pick up a new cookbook too while I am out.  Who knows.  Its a Jessi only day and I plan to enjoy it.  I am doing great and feeling great.  Had a fat moment when I first started my workout but by the end I was over it :).

Workout ~ Walk/Jogged 2 miles today for a total of 222 calories burned in 31 mins.  Day 2 of the 30 day Shred.  The jog was great.  I warmed up for 5 mins.  Jogged for 4, walked 1, jogged 4, then walked most of the way back.  Felt crappy to walk so much but motivating to jog so much.  Did about a 16 min mile.  I am going to sign up for the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon in June of 2011.  I am going to do this.  I was on a high the rest of the day I felt so good.

Day 1 AGAIN!! September 27th

Here we go again :).  I am on another 30 day shred.  This time I am trying to do the more advanced stuff.  I did most of today at the advanced level.  The push ups really were rough and had to be done at the beginner level.  Made me feel bad at first but I finished the rest of the workout strong so that was good.  Push ups are just tough!

September 24th

Well tonight would have been my last night.  But I decided to just give myself a break.  Yes another one.  I have been having spells of dizziness and lightheadedness.  And usually by night time its better but tonight I almost feel over.  So I decided that perhaps tonight it would be ok to not work out and go to bed early and just relax.  I will do light cardio this weekend, a walk or run and then Monday start another 30 days.  I did great and the next 30 days will be even better.  I just need a break to not have something major go wrong.  It isn't my eating, I ate a good dinner today.  So glad I have a medical appointment on Monday to check it out.

Breakfast ~ Chai Tea 12oz
Snack ~ granola bar
Lunch ~ Jimmy Johns sandwich, no mayo, add avocado with turkey, lettuce and cheese.

Dinner ~ salad, breadstick x2 and ravioli de portabella (only three raviolis).

I remember when I used to be able to sit and eat the whole plate, 3 or more breadsticks and two plates of salad.  My how my portions have changed.  But I was full and I stopped.  No need to make myself sick.

New picture

So I took my after photo even though I have one more night.  But one night isn't going to change much.  I am going to move my weight loss ticker back up top.  I adjusted it to 165 which is where I was when I started this August 28th.  I can't believe how far I have come since April.  If I hadn't slipped in July and August I would be doing much better, however I am back on track and I intend to stay there.   The scale is moving more now to.  I can't wait to start level 1 with Chris it will be so great to have a partner.  I will probably still do some kind of workout Sat and Sun just because I am so used to it but nothing crazy.  And adding running should be a breeze three days a week, during lunch for 30 min.  Goal is to get my 2 mile down to 20 min.  I got my water proof pants, just have to get a light weight water proof jacket.  Woot go me!  I feel better too.  I think that means more than the number on the scale.

September 23rd

Workout ~ Day 29 of my 30 day shred.  What a good workout.  I tried to push when I could to the advanced levels.  Some of the jumping is hard on my right knee but I got through it.  Not enough water today.  I was very thirsty.  To much caffeine between the soda and the coffee this morning.  Out of control I tell you :).  I am going to do my after picture tonight.  I will take new before pictures on Sunday.  I am going to do some back shots too and with either shorts or capris so we can see my hips, thighs and calfs so we can see how those change if they do.  I love my calfs they are sexy :).  Ok well off to take a picture and shower.  One more day and I will have finished my challenge.  I am so proud of myself.

Workout felt great.  I was being kind of emo so it helped to burn off some of that stress/steam.  I am getting better, not advanced but better.  Next go round will be even better :).  I only have 2 more days left.

Dinner ~ sesame chicken, terriaky chicken and some rice.  Root beer to drink.

Water was good today.  At least 4 containers full at work (16 oz per container)  So at least 8 cups while at work.

Exercise ~ walked just over 2 miles in 50 mins buring 259 calories according to my heart rate monitor.  Level 3 of the 30 day shred.  Today was a good day.  My body is adjusting slowly to level 3.  I got through more of it without breaks and did the first part of strength as advanced instead of beginner.  I am still not doing much of the jump training but I did the squat jumps and rockstars without a break today.  Improvement is a good thing.  I feel good tonight.  Perhaps I should work to do it a bit earlier from now on so I can go to bed earlier... We shall see.  Three more nights then a 2 day break before starting again on level 1 with Chris.  I bet you guys can't wait for that :).

Workout was great.  I felt good today and not all bleh like I was Saturday.  I think the break was just what I needed.  I was able to push a bit more without over doing it.  I will finish on Friday instead of Thursday now.  No big deal.  I am doing great.  Even had someone say I looked thinner that always feels good.

September 19th

My body was telling me to take a break so I did.  I was getting dizzy/lightheaded spells and had another female issue.  So I took Sunday September 19th off.

5 days left of the workout.  My body is protesting every step of the way.  But I am determined.  I always feel better after but I will be thankful for a few days off.  Then back to a 6 day a week workout schedule.  Or at least that is the plan for right now.  Chris said if I restart the 30 day shred he will do it with me.  I am thinking about doing it on a 6 day a week schedule instead of 7 and see how that goes.  We shall see.  If I do restart it I won't move on to the next level until I can do it without breaks.

Workout was great.  Those walking push ups really pushed me today but it was a good failure.  My body is rebuilding itself newer and stronger.  I am loving how I feel and look.  I feel much more confident in my abilities to do anything.  I think it shows too :).  Must remember to have snacks and breakfast, getting light headed and almost fainting was not a good thing.  Means my body likes the new healthier me and it wants to keep it :).

So today was not what I would call a good food day :).  But I ate so that has to count for something.  Today was a good sweat day though.  Day 2 of Level 3 only 8 more to go.  I am almost there.  I did pretty good tonight.  Made it through all the weighted jumping jacks and most of the scissor abs at the end.  I figured out what I was doing wrong with the walking planks so that seemed to "hurt" better haha.

Weight and inches lost

So I was 161.4 this morning and my waist is 37.5 and my hips are 41.5.  Its coming off.  Slowly but at least I stand a better chance of keeping it off.  I wish it was faster but mornings like this help me see results and keep going.  Tonight's workout will be great.  I wonder if that brisk walk helped?  Perhaps I should do that more.... Even if I can't run.

Dinner ~ Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado croissant sandwich, 10 french fries of the kids, two bits of a salad and water

At least I managed not to have any soda :).
Water is doing good.  I had green tea this morning.  I had about 6 glasses of water at work and 2 at dinner. My water is moving up that is great.
Excersies ~ I went for a walk during lunch with a co worker just to stretch our legs, fairly brisk 2 miles in a little less than an hour.  It was a good break from work if nothing else.  Today was the first day of level 3 and my last 10 days of this workout.  Man that level 3 is intense but great.  And I felt good for finishing strong.  Lots of jumping.  I am still doing the beginner level so perhaps I will do the set again and try to work up to the advanced level before moving levels.  Maybe change it up a bit or something.  I really like doing them.  They are over so quick and I feel like I got a good work out in. Burned probably close to 500 calories today between the walk and the workout tonight.  Just got to keep on keeping on.

Exercise ~ Today was the last day of Level 2.  Tomorrow I start level 3.  I don't know how ready I am for it but I am excited because I only have 10 days left.  Then I can give my legs a break.  They are killing me. I am going ice them tonight and wrap at least one in an ace bandage and see if that helps.  They are hurting.  Oh boy am I sweating tonight.  Doing good though.  Having a bit of a fat day but I will get through this.  I am sticking to my workout.  Eating healthier and giving it my best.  That is all I can do.

Whew!  Feeling it tonight.  But it was a good sweat session.  My calfs are really achy tonight but I will take a shower when I am done here and then ice them.  Hopefully by Tuesday I can go for a run before work.  Yes I want to still try to add in that second workout a day when I can.  Tomorrow I have to go to work and ok my new schedule with the boss :).

No snacks today.  Only drank water.  Not sure how much since some was shared with Chris.
Workout felt good.  I was tired and didn't want to do it (I know common theme) but I did it anyway and of course as always I felt great because I finished.  Today was day 18 only 12 more to go.  It was day 8 of level 2.  I can see that I am improving.  But its still hard when I can't finish a set without a 5 second break.  Planks are hard for me since my core is the part of me the most out of shape.  But it is getting smaller.  We bought two full length mirrors today (on sale) and it made a big difference in form.  Especially during the oblique twists those things are hard.  I am still having trouble with the last set of abs, plank twists but I keep trying and I will get there. Only 2 more days then moving on to level 3.  And that is a great feeling knowing that I am so close to the end and seeing such good results.  I can't wait to see my after picture.

Dinner ~ Outback honey dijon chicken (1/2), about 4 sweet potato fries, 2 slices of honey wheat bread, 1/2 a side caesar salad and some assuie fries.

Not to bad of a day overall.  If anything I need to add more calories.  Tomorrow is grocery day!  I have been looking forward to going and getting healthy snacks for the house.

Exercise ~ Jogged/walked 2 miles in about 35 mins.  Note to self turn on airplane mode.  I got a phone call on the return trip and it messed me up.  Lost my forward motion.  Did Day 17 of the 30 day shred.  Feeling Good.  My legs are throbbing right now but it is so worth it when I look in the mirror and my waist is shrinking.  I had a friend tell me she can see in my face that I am losing weight.  That is a good feeling.  And the run felt great this morning.  Overall a good day.  But man am I tired.  Time to watch some Dexter and fall asleep.

Ok today my jeans were falling off all day.  It was a great annoying feeling :).  Those that have lost jean sizes know what I am talking about.  Today's workout was good.  I was able to get through more of the plank moves without resting and doing them correctly.  I did 9 push ups!  That is such a huge deal for me.  I only did like 1 the first time I did this video two weeks ago.  Yeah I know amazing.  I am making huge strides and I am sure I am going to be at my goal weight by March 2011 no problem.  Slow and steady wins the race.

September 8th

Halfway done!  Today was day 15 of my 30 day shred.  Doing good.  I can do a whole 30 sec of jump rope without stopping.  Quiet an improvement from 2 weeks ago when I couldn't even go 10 secs.  The plank moves in level 2 are still rough but hey I am halfway through level 2 also.  Today was day 5.  I can't believe how fast its going.  I am in between jean sizes so it must be doing something.  Can't wait to measure in 2 more weeks.

Day 14! Almost halfway done.  Not only will I be half done with the whole program tomorrow but halfway through level 2 as well.  Level 2 is no joke.  Those planks are rough.  I am getting stronger but not as strong as I would like.  Just have to keep pushing it and keep trying.  I will get there.

Burned 209 calories during my workout tonight.  I looked in the mirror and it does look as if my middle is starting to trim down.  I am resisting the urge to tape.  My pants fit better, still tight but not as tight :).  It was a good day overall.

Day 3 level 2 was a bit rough.  I can tell that my eating affected my workout tonight.  And it felt really crappy.  I finished just not as strong as I would have liked.  Although out of 13 days having 2 bad ones isn't to bad.  My legs are hurting tonight, I will need motrin and ice :(.  No big deal, shake this one off, at least I did it and didn't wuss out.  I finished and am proud that I did.  Now to shower, ice and sleep.

I haven't been feeling well today.  I really was looking for a reason to not work out but I just couldn't not work out.  I made it through Day 12 Level 2 (day 2 of level 2) and it felt good to push through it.  I am fighting this cold thing that is threatening to derail me.  But I refuse to let it stop me.  Level 2 is no joke but I am noticing that my body is adapting faster.  I mixed up a couple moves today but I still got them all in.  I have to do the beginner level stuff for some of the plank moves but I am getting through it.  And improving everyday.  I will try to go running tomorrow morning and then do Level 2 again tomorrow night.  I am determined to be in the best shape of my life, one way or the other!  Alot more core movements with level 2.  Lots of planks.  LOVE IT!!

September 4th

Today was Day 11.  First day of Level 2.  OMG that is some tough stuff.  I am a hurting momma!  But I finished and I feel great, sweaty but great.  My heart is pumping.  Tomorrow I am going to use my heart rate monitor so I can see how many calories level 2 is burning.  I also went for a run this morning.  Doing GREAT!

Lunch ~ Mushroom Swiss Burger, fries and a dr pepper

Dinner ~ Grilled chicken, 1/2 an ear of corn on the cob, 1/2 cup of pasta salad with wheat noodles

Actually even with my two splurges I am doing good for eating.  And I worked out twice :).  Go me!

Broke through my plateau

I finally broke through my plateau.  I was at 163 this morning :).  It feels great to be moving down again.  My clothes are fitting better (not so tight) and I feel great.  My confidence is up and I am pushing through.  I went for a run this morning and it was wonderful.  I didn't get quiet 2 miles but I did 28 mins and burned 259 calories according to my heart rate monitor.  I love that thing.  I don't know how I survived before it :). I am loving the fact that my body is making good choices for me.  It doesn't want those icky foods.  It is making the changes without me trying.  Tonight while everyone is enjoying Hot Dogs I will have some grilled chicken, and the pasta salad is going to be made with whole wheat Rotini instead of White.  Small changes to change our lifestyle, not a quick fix.  I am excited to be adding some jogging/walking into my days.  Just three days a week.  Nothing crazy.  Plus walks with the dog and family at night.  I am going to be one HOT mamma!

Level 1 DONE!

Today was the last day for Level 1 of the 30 day shred.  I feel great and very excited to start Level 2.  I actually went and counted to make sure I wasn't mistaken.  I can't believe its been 10 days already.  I do have to force myself to work out some nights but I just remind myself how great I feel afterwards and that helps.  Writing here each night helps too.  because when I am in a funk I can read this and remember how great I felt when I got done and it helps me to get up and get moving.

Dinner ~ One bite of a burrito supreme, one bite of a taco supreme and one bite of a chicken flatbread thing, all from Taco Bell and all very gross.  I guess my tastes are changing.
Water honestly no idea.

I am finding that I don't want to eat out.  The thought just doesn't appeal to me.  I want to go home and eat something that I know how good it is for me.  I am doing all this work why throw it away with bad food.  I am craving carrots and apples, and other healthy things.  I am loving these changes and I am glad that I jumped back into this with both feet.  It has been great for me.  I just hope it does the trick for October weigh-ins.  I am sure if I stay on track and continue to improve my eating I will not only feel great but I will look great too :).  I looked at some pictures today that were taken recently and I can see a difference.  It might be subtle but its there.  Well off to shower and go to bed feeling great!

Workout was great.  Level 1 day 9 and feeling good.  Made it through the entire 3rd cardio circuit no problem.  Did all three butt kick circuits and kicked my own ass :).  I am feeling good and seeing improvements.  Even if the scaled doesn't show them.  I think my calories were a little to low today but its a learning thing so we will get there.  Jeremy's birthday on Saturday should prove to be a challenge but it will be good.

Wohoo Start of a new month :).
I am doing great.  Today was day 8.  I don't think this was one of my best workouts but I think it was better than the first time I did the video.

Lunch ~ PB&J on wheat bread, Chobani yogurt (strawberry)
Dinner ~ Bean burrito with cheese, olives and lettuce.

Lots of protein today with the beans, peanut butter, and yogurt.  I still stayed under 1300 calories if the counter is right.  Everyone has to start somewhere.  I think I have found something that works for me and to heck with what anyone says.  I didn't get this way overnight and one workout and one healthy meal isn't going to change me back.  These are lifestyle changes we are making.  Just by eating at home more I am eating healthier.  By working out every night I am improving my health.  Those that want to say I can't do it well poo on you.  I can and will do this and be a stronger person in the end.

WOW!!
Today was day 7 of the workout.  I really was wanting to skip it, make excuses and go to bed.  But I pushed through and pushed my self and am so glad I did.  I feel amazing.  I finished strong, pushed myself and feel great!  I was a little weak with the push ups but once I got going I really got going.  Even being the first day of my cycle I feel better.

But I feel great so there is no beating this feeling.  I am sure my better food day helped and being day 7. Three more days and then I start level 2.

Workout tonight was great!  I finished strong even the jump rope at the end no marching.  I did almost the whole first set of push ups without a break.  I am seeing a difference.  Not much of a weight loss but I did lose an inch around my belly button.  Gotta go with what you can :).
Feeling good leaving day 5.  Just have to keep pushing and I will get there.  No more breaks.

Today was day 4 of the workout.  I really wish I would have worked out Tuesday it would be day 6 :).  Its all good though.  I will push through this.  I am super tired.  Next week will be better.

Breakfast grilled bagel with cream cheese, 12oz skinny white chocolate mocha no whip (big improvement for me).
Lunch 2 crab legs, 2 cut pieces of cooked carrots
Dinner Taco Bell taco supreme, few bites of a burrito supreme and one piece of a personal cheese pizza.  Some Dr. Pepper :(.  And I was doing so good.
Best guess on calories was about 1,130.  I need to bring it up some so I don't go into starvation mode I think.

Workout did day 3 of my 30 day shred 27 more to go.  Felt good.  Leg is still bothering me but I push through and finish strong.  Feeling good.  Now if I could get a good nights sleep I would be golden.  Also cleaned the kids rooms, put away laundry and cleaned their bathroom (scrub down).  It was a productive day overall.

Need to work on drinking more water.  Only had about 4-6 glasses of water today.  That is not enough to keep me hydrated.

I did not drink enough water today.  I need to work on that.  I did not get my work out in yesterday.  I am starting the 30 day shred tonight.  I can do anything for 30 days.  And its only 22 mins so that is doable.  I am going to do it every night.  The end date will be September 23rd.  Now we all know :).

August 24

So today I was up at 630am.  Had a bacon, egg and cheese mcgriddle at about 8am.  Drove to Portland, took my mom to the dr finished about 11.  Went back to Vancouver grabbed some ice, small bag of chips, heath bar, cherry coke and some spree for my and other junk for the kids.  Headed back home by 1145.  Ugh not a fun 4 hour drive let me tell you.  Got home had some left over chinese and now am working up the energy to get my workout in.  I hate feeling sluggish but that long of a drive in the middle of the day takes it out of ya.  I am sure I will sleep better if I do it though.  I always do.  And I get to get up at 530am instead of 5 am tomorrow yippee!  Ok so enough for today off to go workout.  Just a short one, then motrin, ice and sleep.  Hope everyone is doing better than me.

August 23

Did the 30 day shred with my sister.  Wow that will kick your butt :).  In a good way.  The only bummer is the aggravation to my leg from doing the jumping jacks and jump rope, etc.  I should have tracked what I ate better.  I am not totally sure what I had LOL.  I think I had a mocha at some point, some bites of pancakes, and some chinese for dinner.  Dang I suck :(.  Ok so at least I got my work out in and probably didn't go over on calories :).

August 22

So I walked 1 mile with my sister, pushing Jeremy in a not so great jogging stroller.  He is about 38 pounds :).  It wasn't very long but I felt like it was a good workout.  There were hills and flats so there were challenges.  I am not used to walking while pushing something.

Food for the day:
12oz white mocha
Special K with bananas
Burgerville chicken strips and fries (yes way terrible for me)
Oven baked chicken, pasta salad, baked beans and corn on the cob for dinner.  All home made.

Not the best day of eating but not as terrible as it could be since we are not at home.  We drove 4 hours to visit family for a couple days.  That always throws off my eating some since I am not at home to cook.

New Before Pictures

Well since I am almost back where I started in April I am going to start over.  I will "zero" everything out and just keep plugging along.  My stats are: waist 40.50 (actually down .5), Hips 43 (up), Thighs 25 (up), and weight is 166 as of 8:50pm.  I will weight again in the morning to check.  Then its go mama go.  From the pictures I am bigger than I was on my last picture but not as bad as my first set of pictures.  But I knew after my workout tonight that I had lost some muscle.

WOW a month already

My great intentions a month ago went down the toilet.  Why can't I stay motivated?  Just think how far I would be if I hadn't gotten derailed.  Gosh even going back to May when I got the most derailed and never recovered.  What am I doing?  How do I get back on track?  I hate feeling like this....

Saturday August 20th

Breakfast 1 egg over medium with ketchup, bacon, and sourdough toast.
Lunch hotdog and a few tater tots.
Dinner steak, green beans and homemade mac and cheese.
To drink I mostly drank Iced Tea all day.  I need to switch back to water.

Worked out for 25 mins with my Start It Up! video.  Man I only did 17 push ups instead of 20 and struggled through the ab section.  But I finished and know how far I have fallen.  I am going to take a picture in a few and post that with my measurements and weight.  I know weighing at night is terrible but I gotta start somewhere.  I will probably weight in the morning too to get a more accurate one.

New diet

So I am researching a new diet. It might be a fad but I am going to check it out. I think it might help us eat more clean. We shall see how it goes.
I am thinking I need to set some goals and write them here. Not just to work out each week but weight goals and inches and such. I think I am letting myself make excuses to keep me from keeping going. I need to find some motivation.

Friday

Well today was an ok day.  Got my workout in.  Wasn't as intense as the beginning of the week but I finished strong.  I am hurting a bit in my lower butt area :) so I am being easy on my body.  I have been doing my 25 min video all week.  I think I need to move to the 45 min video to get out of my rut.  I am down to 162 according to my wii fit :).  I am not supposed to be weighing myself.  But I was fairly stuck at 164 so it feels good that on Friday I am down.  I have been down, but I usually use my Friday as a guage to reality of my weight.  Even when I weighed myself everyday.  Sure I was down to 158 once.... a couple weeks ago, but at least my weight is moving down again from that plateau of 164.  Ok so worked out only missed Thursday and feeling good about that.  I will work out tomorrow morning before my tattoo appointment.  Not sure about Sunday have to play it by ear.  Pending tattoo pain :).  Off to shower and sleep.

Mondays

Mondays are the worst for me.  I start out with the best of intentions, every effort for this to be a new week.  And while many times I do great this is not one of those times.  Its so frustrating all the negative Nancy's telling me I can't do it or I am wasting my time or they can show me how to do it better.  I did so great when I first started.  Why am I struggling so much now.  Why this week am I just blah about it all.  I know I am getting results look at the pictures.  Its proof that my body is changing for the better.  I feel better most of the time.  But today is just a rough patch.  I just need to put on my shoes and pop in my video and do 25 mins.  I will feel better for it and glad I did when its over.  I will be a happier person when I am done and have a better day tomorrow :).  I am not going to let them get me down!

Monday July 19th

On Monday July 19th I am going to start another round of slim in 6.  I am going to try to add some weights in on 2-3 days a week depending on how I am doing.
I am going to be using my body for life cook book to make healthy meals and not eat junk.
I am quitting caffeine this weekend.
Nothing but water from here on out.
I am going to make smoothies to help with the food.
I am going to do this.  I have stuck to my exercise for the last 3 months.  I am sabotaging myself with my terrible eating habits.  No more I refuse to have my goals thrown off my be any longer.  Going grocery shopping this weekend and getting healthy food for the house.  I can and will do this.

So I think my experiment went well today.  I did good eating all day and for the most part had good energy and felt good.  Then ate like crap on dinner.  Not really on purpose but it happened and now I feel like crap.  Eating good and feeling good go hand in hand.  And even though I knew that I never really felt it.  Now I think the motivation to stay away from that kind of food will be higher.  Even without the exercise I don't like feeling like ugh just because I had some cake.  It was a good hard lesson learned.

Wohoo getting back on track

So I did a work out video tonight and I have to say I feel great!  Note to self birth control pills suck the life out of me.  Since I stopped taking them last week I have felt less angry, and finally have my energy back.  Thank goodness.  I couldn't figure out what happened to my motivation or energy to do my workouts and it was driving me crazy.  Well now I have them back and I am ready to go.  Had a mini vacation from work and feel reenergized to start my week and my workouts to get back on track.  Go ME!

ugh

That is all I can say.  Its been a rough, unmotivated, depressing week and its only Wednesday.  I couldn't complete my workout Monday, skipped Tuesday and will end up skipping tonight as we just got home at 9pm and just ate snacks....
On a good note I was at 163.6 this morning for weight and that is a good sign.  I am going to try to get my workout in for the rest of the week.  10 more days of BCP and then hopefully the weight will start melting off :).  Who knows really.  I need to start logging my food so that is my next step.  Just need to figure out a an easy way to do so, possibly on here.  Food for thought :).

Weight Training

So I added weight training into my routine. Every magazine and online article I read says this is the best way to be in great shape and loss weight. So here we go. I only did two days this week due to my home/work schedule. However I did work out Mon-Fri. So feeling good about that. I think my eating is still out of wack so I need to figure that out. I think once I do though I will be golden. I need to get to reading about it. I might have to buck up and do some shakes, bleh. Ok well anyway that is a small update. Had to take a break from running due to knees hurting and not wanting to injure myself. I hope it works.

Better week

So this week is going better. As I start to end week 2 after my two week break I am seeing the energy coming back and the drive to work out coming back. Its nice to see. My eating still needs help but one thing at a time. Let a girl pms :). So I am holding steady for weight, no gain this week. But no loss either. Hopefully if I can get my eating under control I can start a downward motion again. I did my 48 min video tonight and am glad I did. I feel great. My running is going ok. I am having some knee pain but that might be from the front lunges not the running. I went easy with that tonight so we will see how my run goes tomorrow. So next week should be even better and will just get better from there. I decided one pound a week is ok and that puts me at January 1, 2011 for my goal weight. Some weeks will be better than others I am sure :). But at least I am sticking to it this time even with a slight break and moving forward. I have a goal and will set some mini goals with rewards this weekend to keep me moving.

Off I go

Ok so had a croissant for breakfast.  Tea to drink.  Lots of water today probably more than the 8 cups you are supposed to.  Had egg salad for lunch.  Two apple slice snack packs, some string cheese and some wheat thins.  Had raspberry chicken, mac and cheese and broccoli for dinner.  Not to bad.  Heading out in a min for a 31 min run.  Should be a good time.  I am trying really hard not to weigh myself.

Rough ending to a good week

I got busy and missed my workout Friday, well really I fell asleep but that is busy :).  Saturday we were gone all day and then I took another nap :(.  Gosh I was really tired.  So did ok Tues, Wed, and Thurs but sucked the rest of the week.  That is ok I just have to keep trying and anything is better than nothing right....

Down a pound

Despite having allergies that are kicking my butt I lost a pound this week.  I was mostly hopeing for no gain but to lose a pound is nice :).  I am hopeing to get back into working out on Monday.  I was feeling so good and my stress was way less.  I am trying to not worry about the scale as much once I get to where the Coast Guard says I should be.

Being sick is the pits

So I have been super sick this week. I think I will head to medical on Tuesday to see if its allergies or a super bad cold. Its waking me up at night and I feel like poo. I am going to start my new program Monday. Running on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and cross training on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Once we get the new dog I will probably walk on my off days with the dog including Sunday. But nothing too crazy :). So that is my goal we will see how it works out.

what I am working on right this moment

So after a rough week last week I am kicking it into gear tonight. I am going to push myself hard tonight when I do my work out. I have two more weeks of this work out for the program. I will probably do one more week to make up the days I missed. But I am still doing ok. I did work out four days last week and will get another four in this week. I hope to do all six next week. The hard part is how easily my routine can get out of sync when people show up or something unexpected happens. Perhaps I should learn a better way of coping than eating. And strive to work out regardless of who is visiting. I did work out the first day Chris was in the hospital but the second week I slacked off. And this week I let my monthly cycle get in the way. I just need to keep moving forward. Anything is better than nothing and I can't go back and have a do over. Three days a week will maintain they say. So anything more will burn extra. Now if I could just get my eating under control without feeling deprived I would be great.

Monday May 17th

Well as of either Monday or Tuesday this week I was down another pound. It was a rough week overall with family here, stress, and my birthday. But we made it through. I missed my workout on Thursday due to having a flu bug :(. And Friday I took off since it was the families last night in town. I went for a great run/walk this morning at 730am. It was great. I am really digging the running and can't wait to start making it a normal part of my routine. I have two more weeks of the slim in 6 and I am seeing results so I want to finish it out. I committed and dang it I am going to finish. But I think Saturday I am going to run no matter what :). I can see a difference in my body despite nothing huge on the scale. I feel better :).

Despite spending all day in the emergency room and the hospital and being totally drained I still worked out for 30min.  It was rough I am not going to lie but I am super glad I did it.  Hopefully Chris will be home from the hospital tomorrow.

Food issues

OK I have food issues.  One week I am failing the workout because I am not eating enough.  So I stopped counting calories in an effort to not under eat.  So now I am either overeating or under eating but eating all the wrong crap.  I need to sit down, plan out some meals and snacks and figure this shit out.  Because this isn't working.  I couldn't even finish the workout.  I only 20 mins of the work out before I started getting dizzy and couldn't go on.  GRRRR so frustrating.  Ok well tomorrow is a new day and we can try again.

Getting to the good part

I realized today that I have reached that point where I don't have to force the work out.  I look forward to it.  I want to rush home and work out because I know A) I will feel great afterwards and B) I am improving and losing inches.
I am down another inch around my waist to 39.5 inches.  Ok not great :( but moving down from the 43 I was at when I started.
I wasn't hurting as much today as I was after my first run.  I just have to stick with it.  And I think the abs and stretching after helped.  I didn't feel I was missing out on my slim in 6.  I found a solution to my problem.

Improvement!

So tonight I was able to finish the whole video.  Tired afterwards but it was a good 47 min work out.  I did 2 sets of 12 girl push ups which is up from the one set of 5 I was doing when I started 2 1/2 weeks ago.  Even though I missed yesterday I improved so much today.  I did all the arm work outs which is new :).  And I did the end leg workouts the first two sets without a break.  The third set I reseted twice on each side but finished strong.  I did all the ab stuff without taking a break.  I really pushed it today.  My diet was good except the coffee I had this morning but I think I worked that off.  It was my breakfast after all.  All in all a good week so far.  It will be interesting to see if I lost any weight.  With all the improvements I might not.  Muscle is better anyway :).

Ah Dang!

So Monday I did my first run for my C25K program.  Then I did the Start It Up! video from slim in 6.  I think that was a bit of an overkill.  I was hurting that night and all the next day.  I did take Tuesday off, shame on me.  But I feel 100% today so maybe it was a good option.  I did not run today :(.  I am trying to decide if Monday was a product of to much over training or something else.  I am going with the over doing it theory at the moment.  I am super excited to run so I emailed my beachbody coach for some advice on how to work that into my routine.  Hopefully she will have some ideas.  Worst case senario I will start it again after my 6 weeks is up.  By then I should be in even better shape and be good to go.  So either way still doing good.  My eating has gotten a little out of control although I still think I am in the 1500-1800 range.  But 1300 was just to few and I was cranky and no energy.  I can do this without cutting so many calories.  Its about better choices.  Ok well enough ramble time to go work out.

ouch

So my abs are hurting a bit today and my thighs are feeling a bit sore.  Glad today is my day off.  I am making spaghetti tonight for dinner.  No garlic bread though :(.  That would have been yummy.  Tomorrow is the start of week three for my Slim in 6 and I am so excited.  I am down 2 inches in my waist and 1 inch in my hips.  If I don't flex I am actually down 1 inch on both arms.  I am moving down.  Body Fat is out of control but I think I will wait another two weeks to see how that goes.  I think it has gone down to.  Just not sure how much.  I think it might be 1% in a week.  I think that would be a good amount of movement.  June 5th is the last day of Slim in 6.  There are 36 workouts and I have done 12.  So only 24 more to go.  I can so do this.

Running Shoes

Here are the new running shoes.  They are cute and functional.  The best of both worlds.  Will need to get stuff to clean them, because I am sure they will get dirty fast.  But I am super excited to use them tomorrow.

Moving down

So I have lost about 2 inches around my waist and 1 inch around my hips. My weight didn't go down this week but it didn't go up so I am happy about that. I can now do 2 sets of 20 push ups in the girl (knees down) position and I am super stoked about that. I was only doing 5 when I started two weeks ago. I am up to doing an hour of the cardio/strength training. And I am seeing improvement all around. I am glad I have been pushing through it. Making it two weeks is a huge step for me. I am more determined now than I have ever been. Its a great feeling. And adding running will only keep me going when my six weeks are up. June 12th I get my new tattoo as my reward for finishing the next 6 weeks out. I can't wait. Its going to be amazing.

Running

Monday will be the big day. I purchased my running shoes from Road Runner in Seattle. They were awesome and custom fit my inserts. So it feels a little funny but should make running not so painful. I am going to start out slow and build up. I need to set up my play list and off I will run :). Its going to be great and something that should be easy to stick with. You don't need a gym you can do it anywhere and most anytime. Although in the dark I would want reflective gear and probably a dog LOL. So I am also going to track my running on here.

Started slim in 6

I started slim in 6 last week April 26th. I have to say I feel great. I am only on the first video but if it is any indication I am going to love the other three. I love the stretching too. I did all 6 days go me and lost 2 pounds. I am going to try to post my weightloss widgett for your enjoyment :).
I am keeping a food log and have done very well at staying at or under my 1341 calories a day. Even with a couple trips out to eat. Portion sizes are getting smaller yeah. And I started the week doing 5 girl push ups and ended doing 10 girl push ups.

My next venture besides slim in 6...RUNNING.

I am going to do this.
