Day 1 of the 30 day shred

Started a round of 30 day shred.  Lets hope this works better than last week.  I'm having a couple false starts.  But I refuse to start the New Year at my same weight and unhealthy lifestyle I started last year.  With what I believe is coming being healthy is going to be very important.  Healthy eating and healthy living.  I need to get my butt in gear.  So here is to getting going.  Not sure if I will hit my goal of 150 by 31Dec13 but I won't just give up without trying.  I still think I can get darn close if I push myself.  No extra cardio tonight but I pushed the workout and since I'm getting sick again I figure it's better than nothing.  Tomorrow I will do measurements and weight.

Really??

I was so ready to start.  I had my workout clothes on when the flu hit me Monday night :(.  Lasted through Tuesday midday.  So I took those days off :( and then tonight I was really tired (stress).  But I did get a mini workout done.  It's how I started last time and I figure it worked then, and I will do it again.  Tonight I did the following:
90 jumping jacks
20 tricep dips
10 sit ups
30 second planks
30 squats
15 incline pushups
40 crunches
10 oblique crunches
20 standing calf raises

About 20 mins.  It's not great but it's a start.  I have to start somewhere.  I am hopeful that tomorrow I will get a shred video done and start the 30 day push to drop some weight and get out of the 160's and well into the lower 150s by the new year.  I'm not giving up on my goal.  But progress is progress.

Getting on track

Eating hasn't been terrible until this week... but then it's that time of the month and I'm away from home for work :(.  Overall I am making excuses.  After dinner tonight I am going to do some cardio at the hotel, same with Saturday night.  On Monday I am going to start a round of 30 day shred and add cardio to that.  I will shred and then jump on the bike Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Then shred and run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I was going to do cardio opposite of this but with the kids school schedule this schedule made more sense than dragging the kids for a run on Saturday.  The 30 days will start November 18th and end December 18th.  I can use my motivation board :).  I have complete faith that I can still reach my goal of 150 by the end of December.  Especially with this plan I am going to start.  So along with working out I will work towards not being lazy about dinner and plan better meals.  I need to meal plan and make them healthy.  I just need to get moving and stop making excuses.  I hate when I get on a good roll and it gets messed up then can't get started again.

Sickness hit our house

Right as I finished my 30 days the house got sick.  We spent a week with everyone in the house running fevers.  And up until last Wednesday I was still throwing up at least one of my 2 meals.  Now I am just coughing and wheezing.  I should go to the Dr because this cough is terrible.  But I'm not.  I am going to try to start the Live Fit trainer.  The first four weeks don't have cardio so I am hopeful that will give me time to get better before I have to do cardio.  Breathing is difficult.  But I need to be back  in the gym and working out.  I can tell it will help me.  As I start getting better I will add cardio back in to start kicking this fat.  I'm sorry that I haven't been posting while sick.  I will be posting daily again.  Weight is down to 163 so there is a plus side.  And I made weight for the Coast Guard.

Day 29

Well today was a better day than yesterday.  I got my workout in.  I tried bodystep.  Not sure if I will keep going.  For sure burned calories and sweated alot but I couldn't keep up very well and jumping is not my strong suit.  Eating has been all over the road this week.  I didn't eat enough today but don't feel super hungry.  Going to finish some paleo bread and then head to bed.  Tomorrow is day 30.  We will see how far I got.  This is by no means the end.

Day 28 ended at the ER with one of the kids

Well today was a day it just didn't happen.  I slept in.. then when I was going to jump into bodypump I ended up going home which turned out to be a good thing since had to take J to the ER for a fractured humerus in his arm :(.  So eating wasn't awesome and I didn't get a workout in :(.  My weight is gonna suck for the final weigh in tomorrow, and or Friday.  Oh well such is life.  I will keep on going and those pounds will come off.

Day 27

I can't believe that I'm almost done with my first 30 day challenge and thinking about the next 30 day challenge.  For working out these 30 day challenges seem to be the best way to go.  For eating, well taking that one day at a time and making the best choices I can.  I can splurge here and there as long as it's not everyday.  As of this morning I was 166.5 meaning a 3 pound loss in 27 days, but it's solid weight gone and hopefully I will be down inches too.  I will succeed.  I don't need to crash diet to do it.  I will just keep plodding along and working out, making healthy choices and get there.  Goal for October is 5 more pounds lost so to be at 160 by 1 November :).  Or close to it.  To be still doing 6x a week at the gym.  To be running more consistently and be adding mileage.  I really want to do a 10 mile run in Austin in April and by the end of 2014 finish my first half marathon.  I will do this.

Day 26 Another Monday

So just plugging along ;).  I didn't get a run in today since the car wouldn't start which made me to late in arriving for bodypump to allow for a run.  But I will do it tomorrow no worries.  I'm also doing RPM tomorrow morning.  Can't wait to go.  Bodypump was a good class.  Hubby is home and going to the gym was really hard.  I really wanted to stay home with him but I got it done.  October is coming and I am thinking 5 pounds in the month of October is a good goal with how slow I'm losing weight :(.  But at 5 pounds a month that should put me about 150 by the new year and for sure on my way to my bigger goal of 120-130.  We will just see how the next couple months go.

Day 25 the wonderful REST DAY!

I love my rest days.  I look forward to them.  They recharge me.  I stayed in calories and am feeling good.  I am looking forward to getting two workouts in tomorrow.  Morning run and evening bodypump.  So at least three days a week I will get two workouts a day and three days a week will be a single workout.  If that doesn't get my metabolism moving I don't know what will.  Hubby came home today which is why I can do two workouts a day a couple days a week.  Time to think about those October goals.  I know my Goal for December 31 is to reach 150.  15 pounds is totally doable at my current rate of loss.  I will reach my goal for my next birthday.

Day 24

Did bodypump this morning, had my two shakes, stayed under on calories.  Overall a good day.  I think I might need a little more calories but it's hard to say.  I have to say the discouragement is running high but I'm determined to not give up.  I will not let my weight or food beat me.  Tomorrow is a rest day and I LOVE those.

Day 23, 7 to go

Went to the gym first thing this morning and K did good at the gym daycare.  I got a 30 min walk run in.  Hopeful for bodypump tomorrow but we will see.  I started my shakes this morning.  Had one for lunch and breakfast.  Had a lunabar for a snack.  Had 1 piece of bacon and half a chicken apple sausage with my lunch.  I had homemade mac and cheese, chicken poppers, and green beans for dinner.  Over all not a bad day but not enough calories.  But I don't feel hungry so I guess it's not that bad.  We will see how the results pan out in two weeks when I weigh-in.  I am for sure struggling to keep motivated since my results are so junky.

Day 22, 8 to go

Today was a terrible eating day.  I'm just gonna throw that out there first.  Although thanks to K I didn't take in as many calories as I would have.  But I still took in way to many.  I also didn't make good choices and was almost sick after working out.  Sooo lesson learned.  One crappy meal during the day is not enough.  I did 20 mins on my bike, walked the mile taking the kids to school and did 75 jumping jacks, 15 pushups, 45 crunches, 20 squats, 35 mountain climbers.  Down 2 pounds.  Progress is progress even when it's slow.

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Day 21

Today was the most difficult day yet.  All those days of not sleeping and low calories caught up to me and I just couldn't do much today.  I did get two naps :) and upped my calories to get me back on track. I feel better.  So I got on my bike for 30 mins.  Whew sweating!  But I got it done.  It wasn't as good as going to the gym and doing class but it's ok.  The kids got to play and that is important too.  I have two weeks until I have to weight in for the Coast Guard reserves so I gotta get rid of 2 more pounds.  I can't wait until that stress is over :).

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Day 20, 10 to go

I am 2/3 of the way through my challenge.  Although I have already recieved my reward of a gym membership.  I'm still plucking along.  Walked briskly for 32 mins 1.6 miles.  Then did jumping jacks, crunches, russian twists, planks, push ups, and high knees to finish it off.  I got the house picked up, pictures put away, laundry going, bed made, nightstand cleaned off, lunch made and now K is sleeping so I am relaxing a bit on the computer and taking a shower.  I am on a roll today.

Day 19, 11 to go

Today is day 19.  Nothing super special about that.  It was a Monday and sometimes Monday's can be hard because you just had a rest day and hey that felt kind of awesome to sit around :) but I also notice I'm much more cranky.  I always feel better after a good workout.  I even tried to push harder in bodypump.  I didn't get my run this morning so I am going to do it tomorrow.  I am going to just run around the neighborhood.  I had a bad eating day but on the not enough calories spectrum.  I should have eaten more because I was very weak after class and light headed.  Noted and learned.  Can't wait. I am almost into single digits on days left :).

Weight this morning 175.5

Day 17 & 18

Oh my I forgot to write last night LOL.  My bad.  Well yesterday was a fun crazy kind of day.  Got my self out of bed and went to the gym for a run and bodypump.  Ah it felt great.  Then I came home showered and went to the store.  Ate lunch too late and got a terrible headache for the rest of the day.  I finally took some advil and got some relief.  But looking at a computer wasn't going to happen.  I was rather low on calories but also ate three mini cupcakes with my kids for my youngest DD's birthday.  Today was a rest day.  I got up, got on the scale after a full nights sleep and the conclusion of my monthly cycle and wouldn't you know I am down to 167.1.  I wondered if the lack of sleep and cycle were causing the lack of weight loss.  So now I am popping on to update and then off to bed.  Hopeful for another nights sleep.  I'm going to take the kids to school and then go for a walk/run around the neighborhood.  That way I only do bodypump tomorrow night and we don't have to be at the gym for as long.  I know the kids will appreciate that :).  They aren't crazy about being there for 2 hours.  Or close to it.  So I will still get my 2 workouts in just at different times in the day.  I'm also going to try to get my house cleaned up.  It's driving me a little bonkers.  I will also say I feel like I have pent up energy.  One of the side effects of a rest day I guess.  I can't believe I am on the downhill slide of my 30 day challenge.

Friday, September 20, 2013

Day 16

I didn't get to they gym today.  I know shame, shame.  But with a flash flood warning in effect I choose to stay close to home.  But at 8:40pm I made myself get my workout clothes on and get on my bike.  I wasn't going to let anything keep me from moving and sweating.  So I jumped on my bike for an easy 30 min ride.  It wasn't super hard but I did sweat and I kept my pace up which is good progress.  I had poached eggs and toast with bacon for breakfast, PB&J with chips for lunch.  We had pancakes for dinner :).  Kids love breakfast dinner :).  Today wasn't about having the motivation.  Today was about determination.  Also it seems to be motivating others to get moving as well since I'm sticking to it.  So that helps keep me going as well.

Day 15 Halfway done!

So today marks the halfway point.  I am officially down 1 pound :).  So I guess progress is progress.  I'm going to see this thing thru.  I have to.  I am feeling stronger.  I was doing great in RPM.  Feeling strong, doing more resistance and really pushing.  It was going to be a great class.  But 20 mins in K decided she didn't want to stay at the gym daycare any longer :(.  So I left and came home.  Jumped on my bike for 20 mins.  It wasn't as challenging but it kept my heart rate up and kept me moving.  A workout complete for the day.  I had 2 triple berry muffins for breakfast.  Lunch was apple chicken sausage, brussel sprouts, and a piece of bacon.  Dinner was BBQ chicken, 1/2 cup mac and cheese and green beans.  Over all a good day and I'm finally starting to recover from all this working out :).  I will run tomorrow evening and do bodypump on Saturday before we celebrate K's 2nd birthday.

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Day 14

So getting on track with the days here :).  Eating wasn't to bad.  Breakfast was two pieces of bacon, a pumpkin paleo muffin and one hard boiled egg.  Gave the other one to the oldest.  She loves them.  I had a sandwich and indulged in sun chips.  Dinner was a 6" turkey sandwich on wheat no mayo, no cheese, added lettuce, spinach, olives.  My calories are/were low but I don't feel hungry so I'm going with it.  I will try to just eat as hungry and make good choices.  I did a 30 min run walk before attempting bodypump again.  This was my third class.  I think I might be making progress but I'm not sure.  I am sure that I am giving everything and sweating like a beast.  It drips down my elbows LOL.  I'm not doing a ton of weight but I am going to failure.  So working out is on track and eating while not superb is better than it has been.  I am reposting this picture because I feel that it is true.  Not me, not this time.

Missed a day blogging but not working out

Ok so somehow I missed a day of blogging last week and it got me all messed up.  Here I was thinking today was day 13 and when I counted and recounted I realized today is day 14.  So two weeks into my 30 day challenge but tomorrow will be the half way point :).  I will update weight tomorrow.  I'm not expecting anything huge.  But wanted to say that tonight's blog will say day 14 and that is why.  I tried to get to the gym this morning but K just wasn't having it.  I will try tonight with all the kids and pray they let me get a run and bodypump class done :).  Food is doing ok.  I should eat a snack soon though.

Day 12

Today was another good day although I feel tired.  I want to just curl up and sleep.  I did RPM this morning (which is like spin).  I had 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 1/2 of an avocado or almost half and a few pieces of granny smith apple.  Dinner wasn't super awesome but it was cooked at home. I made mozerella sticks ate 2, and party pizza had half.  I know however that those are not good choices and that I will probably pay for it later.  Tomorrow will be better food wise.  Let's hope Kaitlynn lets me do 30 mins on the treadmill and bodypump tomorrow.  Also as of this morning I was down a pound to 168.4.  Kinda of a big deal to finally be moving down.  We will see if it sticks.  Considering dinner not likely.

Day 11

Today was a great day.  Breakfast 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 1/2 an avocado.  Snack was a paleo pumpkin muffin and a plumcot.  Dinner was a copycat mongolian beef recipe.  Yes I indulged in rice, beef and green beans.  I did a 90 min workout.  I think it will be ok :).  Oh DH also got me a carmel macchiato and I drank it and enjoyed it :).  But my calories as best as I can tell were at 1421 and my exercise was at 656 LOL.  So I think I did ok.  I pushed my muscles to failure during body pump and did a 30 min walk/run before my workout.  Bodypump is 60 mins.  I'm off to take a bath and two advil and head to spin/rpm in the morning.  I will say my motivation board is such a good thing.  It looks a little different but I will post an updated picture at the end of the 30 days.

Day 10, rest day

Today is my rest day.  A day to look forward to and a day to dread.  You never know if you will get back on the wagon tomorrow.  Will this start a vicious cycle?  No probably not.  I am enjoying my workouts too much to stop now.  If only food would be so easy.  I try to give paleo 100% but I usually fail.  I am not a low carb dieter.  And it's not a lifestyle I enjoy so reality is that I need to find what works.  Problem is I am jealous of all the skinny chicks who make it seem so easy to eat clean or paleo and lose weight and stay on track.  Frustrates me to no end.  I will get this though.  I will eat at home.  I will make healthy choices, no sweet treats.  But I don't want to starve myself either.  Today I had pumpkin paleo pancakes and chicken apple sausage for breakfast.  Lunch... cheese and crackers... Dinner was Lasagna and garlic bread.  But I kept my portion small and stopped when full.  Sadly I know that it wasn't the best choice.  Although I will say completely made from scratch lasagna and it was tasty :).  I haven't had lasagna in months.  So there was my rest day.  Perhaps a cheat/rest day is what could help.  We could try it.  I could find a new recipe that I'm going to make that has a cheat in it.  And each Sunday I get to have that cheat.  But the rest of the week I have to fuel my body with only healthy good foods.  It's worth a shot.  Nothing else has panned out so far.

Day 9, 21 to go

So this morning I got up, ate 2 eggs, 2 pieces uncured natural bacon and 1/2 an avocado.  Then headed off to body pump, an hour long strength training class.  Whew was that kicking my butt.  My legs were shaking.  Came home had 1 applegate organic apple and chicken sausage and 1 piece uncured natural bacon.  I also indulged in a paleo sweet treat from Elana's pantry.  I had taco salad with no chips or shell for dinner.  Just meat, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and tomatoes.  All in all a very good first day of paleo and workout day.  I'm achy but not so sore I can't move so that is good.  I have been drinking water like it's going out of style :).  So far no headache but I imagine that is coming.  Oh I did have a cup of coffee this morning.  I forgot, so that would be why no headache.  Either way I'm still doing good, working out and cleaning up my food.  Tomorrow will be a challenge since we are going out to a friends farm but I will try packing my own goodness to eat so I won't have to worry.  Perhaps some chicken and broccoli for lunch.

Day 8, 22 to go

Me after my run, all red and sweaty :)
As day 8 comes to a close I'm going to just say I'm super proud of myself.  Yeah that is a lot of ME :).  But I really didn't want to go workout.  I was looking for excuses.  I didn't have any good ones so I pushed thru and went to the gym.  I didn't get a spin class spot but I did get a run done.  I did 36 mins of run/walk and did go 2.3 miles.  So it's not bad.  So far I have done over 8 miles in my challenge.  I am going to give bodypump a try tomorrow.  Missed Yoga today since Kaitlynn got sick before class started :(.  Poor baby and mommy.  Tomorrow starts day 1 of my 30 day Paleo challenge.  I can do this.  I just have to apply myself as much to eating healthy as I do working out.  I mean really who needs XL sweet tea from Sonic?  Well they are wonderful but I am tired of being unhealthy.  When I complete my 30 day paleo challenge I will allow myself a treat of some sort but probably home made sweet tea or some such thing.  My friend Tina is going to help me stay on track with paleo and I will post here my food/menu from the day.

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Day 7, 23 to go

A week into my thirty days.  I'm trucking right along.  I have hit that point where if I don't work out I feel all cranky and grumpy.  I went the new gym again today and tried the Les Mills RPM (aka spin) class.  It was 45 mins of hard work.  I was sweating, the good kind of sweat.  And tonight my back muscles are sore.  Or tired either way its a good kind of sore.  I'm tired too.  I totally failed at my food choices today so we won't bother talking about those.  I'm gonna sleep good tonight though :).  I haven't lost any weight but considering at one point I was up to 171 last week I'm ok with holding steady at 169.  I look forward to all the classes and getting those pounds to start shedding.  That and not having any money to eat out will be a good step in eating healthy.  Today should be the last day of fast food until Chris gets paid again since we are out of fun money.  Here is to another day.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Day 6, 24 to go

I was in a funk today.  I was super grump and nothing was working.  I was anxious, cranky, emotional.  Then at about 9pm I got on my bike for 30 mins.  I didn't want to, going with the mood I was in.  But I made myself get on it and go.  It actually went fairly quickly.  My hiney was feeling the pain after having not ridden for so long but I'm glad I got on and rode.  I'm not doing anything extra tonight.  But I rode and sweated for 30 mins and that is the key to this whole journey.  Just trying everyday.

All of my pictures/images/motivation comes from pinterest which come from other sites.

Monday, September 9, 2013

Day 5

So getting up at 6 didn't happen, lesson learned though because Dottie can't go later when all the dogs are up and out :(.  She so wanted to run off and play with them all.  Oh well, I still got 1.6 miles done which is better than sitting on the couch.  Then came home and did my kettlebell routine.  I really should write that down again.  So I still got my "30 mins" in which is keeping with my goal.  Another week and I will be over the hump so to speak.  I am going to try yoga tonight to stretch out some tight muscles.  I am hopeful to ride my bike tomorrow and probably find another strength move/set I can do. I have been thinking about starting a facebook page or group that I can post workouts and such on but I bet there already is one and to be honest most of my stuff isn't original just on pinterest.  But I do enjoy encouraging others to workout and helping them.  Maybe I should train to be a personal coach.  Anyway, did good with working out and almost ate out but Kait threw up all over it so there goes that.  Overall day 5 complete and successful.  And yes this picture is totally true.

Added 8pm, tried some yoga, Yoga for Dummies is soooo slow it's annoying, but its a great way to stretch so I will keep trying different videos.  Did about 30 mins of that 6 poses.  Then we did a pinterest workout, 75 jumping jacks (didn't have to stop during them *improvement), 15 pushups, 45 crunches, 35 mountain climbers and 30 sec plank (supposed to be 55 sec).  I do this alot at the end of the night.  I think this was a good workout day.

Sunday, September 8, 2013

Rest day

Literally.  I sat around like a lump on a log and took a two hour nap.  I was so tired.  The good news is the weather is cooling down some this week and it should only be about 72 at 6am so I can go for a run Monday :).  Woohoo!!  I'm looking forward to my run, then walk the kids to school then a kettle bell video.  Then I'm gonna clean the house.  Big day tomorrow.  It will be day 5 tomorrow.

Saturday, September 7, 2013

Day 3, 27 to go

So if I complete this 30 day challenge DH said we could look at a gym membership for me so I can take classes and such.
Today was weird but I got a workout in regardless.  I mowed the back lawn for 30 mins in 90 degree heat, no easy task.  I was sweating.  Then I did two different routines from pinterest, kettle bells and a body weight one to get another 15 mins.
I feel good about it.  I'm sore today from the last two days so I must be doing something right.  I just have to keep pushing forward.  Tomorrow will be a day off.

Friday, September 6, 2013

Day 2, 28 to go!

So today started difficult emotionally and really could have caused me to eat junk.  Lord knows I wanted to.  But I managed to eat at home (goal number 1) and workout (goal 2).  I did 25 mins on my bike and then did the 75 jumping jacks, 15 pushups, 45 crunches, 35 mountain climbers and only 30 sec plank.  I will keep working on that though.  It is supposed to be 55 sec.  I was probably low on eating since lunch was a blueberry muffin.  Chris worked out too.  I'm so proud of him.  I'm going to try to get up at 6 and go for a run in the morning.  This week should be a good week for running.  I will probably do the 2 min run/4 min walk for tomorrow and bump up the time Monday.

30 Day Challenge

Sounds good right!?
So here we go.  Another attempt at motivation.  But this time I recruited help.  My sister, my hubby, friends on FB and now on my blog.  I figure if I am doing this with others instead of alone it will be easier to stay on track.  Eating wasn't super today but it could have been worse.  So today was day 1.  End date is October 5th.  I walked 1.2 miles this morning and did a kettlebell and misc this afternoon.  Thanks Pinterest for lots of little workouts I just put them together for a 25 min workout.  It's movement and that is the key.  I have goals.  Big goals.  I won't reach them without a plan.  Floundering wasn't working.  Running in 80 degree weather isn't working so I have to find what works.  Hopefully I have.

September Goals

So lets set some goals for September.  Mini goals will help me reach my bigger goals.  So this month the goal is to work out each day except Sunday.  To eat at home 90% of the time which is about 2 times a week.  I really hope to not eat out that much but I think that is more realistic.  It should help my weight and our budget.  I'm going to run 3x a week building up my time and mileage.  I'm going to do a 30 min video 6x a week for the strength.  I'm going to walk the kids to school every morning.  I will probably drive to pick them up because of the heat but we will just see.  Either way these are the goals for this month.  I will do weight and measurements tomorrow morning before taking the kids to school.  And then I will check them again October 1 and set new goals :).  I have to stop telling myself it will be to hard or I can't do it.  I have to just do it.  I know I can so I need to stop doubting myself.

Monday and Tuesday

So I am trying, still trying :).  But with the kids in school we have more of a routine.  I got up yesterday and walked/ran 2 miles and then got them off for their first day of school.  I walked them the 1.3 miles to school today so I will walk over 2.5 miles each day if I keep that up.  And then I did kettlebells when I got home since I was all warmed up.  Thinking the bike will be a weekend thing... I will work it in.  Got a motivation board to keep me going and help me when I am feeling low.  I'm excited to be getting on track.

Feeling the failure

Today is one of those days that I feel like I am just failing and not actually moving forward.  I did try to get on the bike but after 5 mins wanted to puke and was light headed.  Most would say no biggie just stop and try again tomorrow.   But tonight I just feel like I am making excuses.  I want to be healthier and more in shape and yet can't get my but moving or have enough self discipline to stick to eating healthy.  I make one excuse after another.  I know these things take time.  I guess I want to be like all of those success stories that just one day I woke up and wasn't going to take it anymore.  That I would never have a set back again and only results.... But that isn't realistic with three kids and having just moved to a totally new climate and well there are the excuses again.  It's not like I don't want it,  I guess I just don't want it enough... I don't know what is wrong with me.

Pictures

Since my blog isn't overly read I know I'm not in danger of people saying much about my pictures.  So here are some pictures from today.  I will take them again in a month and see how much progress I've made.

Day 2 down

It was for sure one of those mornings I could have easily skipped it.  I didn't sleep well and was tired.  But I put on my workout clothes and that got me more motivated.  I haven't ridden my bike in quiet some time so riding is a little painful on the bottom at the moment.  So I did 15 mins on the bike and then did the below quick workout.

20 jumping jacks
10 crunches
5 pushups
10 calf raises
25 russian twists
20 high knees
10 reverse crunches
30 sec plank
15 sec side plank (each side)

Tomorrow I will do a 10 min warm up and the kettle bells again.  Just going to keep trucking along.

169.5 this morning.  I'm sure the twinkie last night didn't help :).  But the kids and I had fun and they are more important.  The rest of my eating was great yesterday.

The heat and working out

So the biggest problem I'm running into is combating the heat with working out.  My assumption is that working out in the morning will prove easier and a bit better timing.  I got up this morning and rode my bike for 10 mins.  Then did a full body kettlebell workout.

12 reps of each
Around the body pass
Bent rows
Dead lift
Swing
Figure 8
Half get up (those are tough fyi)
Squat
Windmills (also tough)

I did the set twice.  At the end of the last set I tried the High pulls that I found on another site.  Overall a good workout.

I was down to 167 had a rough weekend with how busy we were but I'm at 169.5 this morning so a 2.5 pound gain for the weekend isn't bad. If I can eat healthy and workout I should be down below Coast Guard standards in time for my swearing in and if I just keep trying I will reach my goal by my birthday.  No I haven't given up but I have struggled. I know the articles make it sound like people just instantly wake up work out and get skinny.  It's really not that easy.  It takes work, you will have set backs and you will get discouraged.  Motivation only gets you so far.  Dedication and persistence get you the rest of the way.

I got the workout off of pinterest which got it off Women's Healthy magazine online.

Paleo eating for the win

So I have been so good with my eating and really focusing on paleo eating and cutting the carbs since I know they make me feel crappy.  Well I am happy to say that as of today I was at 166.8 :).  Working out isn't working very well since I am so unaccustomed to the heat.  But at least I am doing something other than just waiting and making excuses.  I can always eat more healthy ;).

Jillian videos are a Love/Hate thing

I love to hate these videos.  But I know they work for me.  I got Shred It with Weights done while Kaitlynn took a nap and the older two played.  I am determined to not make excuses.  My legs were like jello at the end that is for sure.  Jumping squats that turn OMG I thought I would die.  I did slow down a bit due to being overheated but I didn't stop moving and I know that each day I will get stronger.
So far I have had pancakes, coffee, a sandwich, a few bites of pasta salad, 24 oz of water, some knock off gatorade and now drinking more water.  Tomorrow is a grocery shopping day :).  So I need to make a good healthy menu and implement it.  I will reach my goal.  I will be the best me I can be :).

On a side note weight is at 172.5 so that is my starting weight.

Finally arrived!

We finally arrived in Texas about a week ago.  It's been crazy unpacking and moving boxes and the heat.  But we are slowly getting settled.  Most of the kitchen is done.  Most of what is left is books and misc items we probably don't need anyway :).  I am really wanting/needing to find a workout routine that will work for me.  I want to workout first thing in the morning but so far have not succeeded.  I know once the kids start school and I'm up at 0700 I will find time.  Right now we are getting up about 830/9am and then running errands and making dinner and other meals and unpacking.  Ah the joys of moving.  I am fairly certain I am losing weight although not 100%.  Just eating at home is helping I'm sure.  My clothes are fitting better since we arrived.  I will update tomorrow on the goal of getting a workout in ;).

Weekend with the family

We spent the weekend down in Portland with our family and it was nice to see everyone.  It was sad too knowing that we won't see some again for quiet sometime.  We ate terrible, story of my life right now.  I'm sure at this point I am above 170... But I will get rid of it.  I just wish I wasn't back sliding so much.  I tried to slow it down and had for a week or two but this weekend was not good to my waist.  Two more weeks until we are in our own home again and healthy home cooked meals are going to be so amazing.  We will be purchasing a BBQ as soon as we can and grilling alot.  Need to find crockpot and grilling recipes that are healthy.  I'm so ready.

Happy 4th of Jully

It's America's Independence day.  It's a day to remember, to celebrate and to get together with family and friends for BBQ.  Today is one of those days that can be hard on the nutrition and staying on track.  One thing to keep in mind is that one day won't destroy your hard work.  But that doesn't mean we should rush out and eat everything.  There is plenty of things we should and can eat like watermelon and fruit salad, hamburgers made fresh not from a fast food chain, sweet potatoes instead of regular.  Lots of options just gotta make good choices.  Everyday is a chance to try again.

13 Days left

Only 13 more days left in the hotel North of Seattle.  Today was an ok eating day but hope to get a workout in tomorrow.  Fourth of July run go me :).  Just getting three days will keep me from gaining anymore.  Or so I hope.  Some good news a friend of hubby's is doing the zone program with crossfit for eating and has abs and it is inspiring him to keep pushing forward.  Can't wait until we get to Texas and we can get to eating great and working out more and getting healthy and fit.  For now we just have to do what we can and know that this is temporary.

Run turned walk, still did 2 miles!

So it was one of those runs... You know the kind where you really want to go and dream of how awesome it will be, then it turns into one of the worst runs ever...

That was me today.  But despite the horribleness of the run turned walk I still completed 2 miles.  And shoot that is something to be proud of, right?!  I started strong, but the reality is my nutrition like usual sucks and my water intake is terrible (which isn't normal) and honestly I'm going backwards.  I'm sliding so fast. But I know that I will be able to recover.  I just need to not fall apart at the end.  I only have two more weeks.  I know that these last two weeks will be the toughest on me but I have to just keep pushing.

Loving me

So part of becoming a new me this year is learning to love me.  Learning that my weight doesn't define me and that really it doesn't matter what other people think. I took a big step in that direction today when we went to the lake.  I wore my swim suit and didn't feel compelled to leave on shorts or anything to cover my body.  I'm not going to let my lack of self confidence ruin my memories with my children.  Today was about having fun and enjoying the day.  And we did.  I was going to run this morning but it didn't happen and while I wish it would have I understand that our current non sleeping situation is temporary and pushing to hard only makes my stress higher.  So I will try again tomorrow.  I will reach my goal.

Three more weeks

We only have 16 more days of Navy Lodge living and we are on our way.  I am trying to eat good and it's not working great.  But the best part is I just need to not gain anymore weight before I can get to Texas and get a new routine going.  Videos will probably be my friend with the heat I'm not accustomed to.  But I will be getting on my paleo fix and getting my workout on.  It's going to be great.  I'm going to try to run a bit between now and then but I'm not going to stress it.  And I know in the hotels on the way to Texas they will have a nice gym.  The Navy Lodge does not :(.  But it's only 16 more days.  With the higher temps (80's) in WA I have noticed a change in my appetite.  I'm not drinking enough water though.  I need to be better about that.  I have also realized that I don't need to shy away from posting about my struggles.  A. not many people read this :) if any, and B. everyone has struggles, so why try to pretend I don't...  I will still reach my goal by my next birthday!

Hotel living

Yep its just as rough as I thought it would be.  Perhaps more so.  My waist has suffered terribly. I am up to 169 :( but eating out and no exercise will do that to a person.  So I have kicked myself into gear this week.  Monday I did a workout I found on pinterest.  It was good.  Rough but good.  Tuesday I ran 2.5 miles (30 mins without stopping).  Today (Wednesday) I got on the stationary bike for 30 mins (nothing crazy) and a kettle bell routine.  My legs are feeling amazing *insert sarcasm.  I know my body is working and building.  I am not going to let this deter me in my goals.  I will keep trucking along.  Only a month left until we are at our new home and can get settled into a new routine and a great track for eating and working out.  I'm proud that I'm not just giving up, that I am pushing and getting back on track.  Eating is still a mess but at least I won't make any further backward progress.  I might not make any gains but I will keep pushing forward.

Crossfit

So Chris is really into crossfit and loves doing it.  So I didn't want to work out but I did it with him last night.  It was a lot of fun and I am sore today so that is a good thing.  I'm glad I did it and thankful for a supportive hubby.

Workouts aren't working for me

Usually I find a lot of stress relief from working out.  Lately that hasn't been the case.  And after three weeks I'm not seeing much change.  I would imagine that some of it is my fault.  Well all of it is my fault but I need a new routine that works for me and gets me excited to work out each day.  So I'm looking to make my running the primary with my strength training as my cross training.  I'm going to find a good routine and get healthy.  I'm jealous of those people that can just flip a switch.  Since I am not apparently that type of person I will have to find another way.  I did 30 mins on the stationary bike today so I did workout.  And I'm proud that I did something even when lacking the motivation.

Back and biceps with a little leg on the side.

Today was a back and bicep day.  I threw in legs since I missed it yesterday.  I did workout.  I got on my bike yesterday and rode for 25 mins.  But the legs needed a good burn session.  I think it was overall a good workout.  Food is of course a mess.  Who knew it would be so hard to eat healthy.  One thing today taught me is to stick with my little goals.  I was doing better food wise last week.  So back to just trying to eat at home instead of paleo/clean/ whatever other fad diet I might be inclined to try.  When we move in 7 weeks I can try modifying the food.  For now I just need to work out more and eat as good as I can while being realistic.  This is a process.  This isn't quick and I have to break years of habits.  I will do this though.  I can do this.

Crazy weekend

We all have them, especially two weeks from when movers are coming.  So today I was so gonna hit the gym until I was up at midnight with a vomiting child.  So the goal for tonight is to ride the bike for 30 mins (up from 10 last week) and then do my bosu ball legs until my legs burn!  Gotta stay on track.  Technically with the live fit trainer I didn't miss a workout last week (since I did legs Monday) and I took all the prescribed rest days.  I wasn't planning on it but it happened.  A lot happened this weekend.  But I'm going to get it all done again this week and hopefully add in some more cardio to push the weight loss a bit.  I will do back and bi's tomorrow since I won't have the base gym on Wednesday and Chest/tri day is easier at home than back and bi.  I will say I was sore last week and it was great.  I am trying to cut carbs.  I decided to allow 3 carb meals a week to be realistic.  I got two new cookbooks to help ease the transition and so far they are a huge hit.  They are from Elana's Pantry.  I highly recommend the Gluten free almond flour cooking and the cupcake book.  Both are paleo/gluten free and I haven't found a recipe yet I haven't tried.  I got them Saturday and have made 1 cupcake (triple chocolate), drop biscuits, chocolate chip scones, zucchini bread (will be able to try tomorrow) and currently making strawberry cupcakes.  I love the fact the recipes are simple and easy.  They look and taste like regular treats.  And I have not had much luck with almond flour/meal muffins so I'm loving her stuff.  Her website has a lot of recipes too.  I will try to get pictures up on my cooking from scratch blog I started to keep track of the good, the bad and the so so recipes I make.

Goals for the week:
Continue with the water, was doing really good.
Workout all 5 days this week per the live fit plan.
Eat at home all week :).
Don't be to hard on myself.

Rest day

Took a much needed rest day today.  I will be hitting the legs tomorrow.  But every now and then you just have to say, enough is enough and I'm gonna rest.

Shoulders/abs

Today I got on the bike/trainer for 20 mins.  I wanted to do 30 mins but my bottom couldn't take it.  I will try for 30 next week.  Just build on a base.  I did shoulders and abs along with my "ride".  It was a really good workout.  I avoided temptation and didn't eat out.  Although I ate out at lunch :( so I don't know that being good at dinner really counted much.  Although half a sandwich really isn't bad.  No mayo.  I stayed under my calorie goal.  One day at a time.  Each day gets me closer to my goal.  Each good choice gets me closer to my goal.  I'm going to succeed.  I'm gonna be a healthy fit momma!  Finding inspiration everyday really helps as well.  Water was good, had a coffee but only 12oz so that is an improvement.  Like I said baby steps.

Back and Biceps

Today was back and bicep day.  I did 20 mins on the elliptical and did a great workout.  I'm feeling good about my workouts but not about my weight :(.  I hope it's just a product of outside factors and not that I am failing at my goal so early on.  Every day I do better.  Today wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst.  But there is always room for praise and improvement.  My upper body is for sure sore.  I am looking forward to my leg day tomorrow.

Week 2 day 1 chest and tri's

So I did a 5 min warm up and then did chest and tri's this morning.  It was only a 45 min workout so I know I might have pushed a bit fast.  But I was also real shaky by the end.  I really have to figure out a better morning routine.  Perhaps the banana and the muffin... Who knows but I will figure it out.  It was a good workout though and my arms were like noodles afterwards.  Legs weren't to bad today... so either they will be worse tomorrow or all the water I drank helped.  I drank 3 bottles (24 oz each) of water today.  And only 1 sweet tea at home from my kuerig.  I ate only what I took/had at home.  I didn't eat out so day one of the weekly goals I set was a success.

3 rest days?

No I can't do that.  So even though I am following the LiveFit training plan for my weight lifting I am not following it exactly for my working out.  As witnessed by the BOSU ball workout last Friday night.  Which I was still sore from today.  So I decided to do it again :).  I will do it every Monday night from here on out.  I rode my bike on the trainer for 20 mins and then did the leg workout.  Yeah I'm gonna kick this goal in the butt and show it whose boss.  Eating is less than perfect but I keep trying and keep doing better.  Bought stuff to take lunch to work so I wouldn't eat out.  Yeah sandwiches and chips but its better than Mcdonalds.  I am going to try to take wheat thins instead of potato chips and carrot sticks.  I'm gonna do cardio for 15-20 mins in the morning then do my weights.  Should be done by 0700 and then shower and get to work by 0730.  Sounds like a solid plan.  Now to get to bed at a decent hour :).  So here is to the start of week two of my BIG goal.

Small goals for this week.
Eat at home every night.
Take a lunch every day.
Workout every morning.
Don't be to hard on myself :).
Drink 2 bottles of water every day (64 oz).

Owwwwwie!!

I totally felt this way today.  I did that BOSU ball leg workout last night and today it was super hard just to walk up the stairs.  I was carrying the baby and laughing at the same time it hurt so bad.  I'm going to need to do some cardio tomorrow to work out my legs.  Its a rest day for the next three days but I'm going to do some cardio just to keep moving.  This morning before I got out of bed I thought I didn't work hard enough.  Tonight I found muscles in my butt I didn't know I had.  This picture was found on pinterest.  I haven't figured out how to link back.  They changed how they did it.  I will though.  Feeling good about the new routine though and loving being back in the gym.  Hubby bought me a Garmin Forerunner 10 :) hot pink of course.  Haven't figured it out yet but I am sure I will.  I can even use it when I ride my bike.

Day 4

Oops forgot to post yesterday LOL.  Well I did shoulders and abs yesterday because I intended to do legs at work today.  Well I ended up doing legs at home tonight.  I got a BOSU ball and used the June issue of Oxygen magazine that had a killer leg workout with the BOSU ball.  I am sweating and breathing hard.  Oh man was it killer.  I am going to keep doing it each week to see if I am getting stronger.  I will still do the live fit but will add this in as well.  We are also going to try to get a pull up bar so I can learn/get strong enough to do a pull up.  Eating wasn't great today.  I wasn't prepared for lunch and dinner we ate out :(.  But overall it was a good week full of progress and success.  I won't let that leg workout defeat me.  Yes I struggled.  But who wouldn't, that stuff is hard.  It's supposed to be hard.  I won't look as good if I just drink shakes and get thin.  I wanna be a rockin hot mom of 3 in a bikini when I turn 35!  Keepin my eye on prize!  Hubby is even doing good with working out and eating healthier.

Day 2

So I couldn't do the pull downs or the row but I did everything I could.  I figured that any workout is better than none.  And it gets me in the habit of working out and doing my program.  I am missing cardio and my running but with my ankle being stupid I shouldn't run anyway.  Hopefully in another week or so I will get back out there because I really do love running.  I also hope to be in a real gym next week and for the remainder of phase 1 and 2.  That should improve my results I'm sure.  This week being at home is just about getting it done and just starting.  I didn't want to keep putting it off.  I have managed to eat at home all week.  Granted it's only Wednesday but so far so good.  I haven't let temptation get me.  I did indulge in ice cream today but sometimes you just have to.  Well you don't have to but I did.  But my goal this week was to eat at home.  So feeling good and glad I did workout.

Live fit... again

Going to try to do the live fit trainer again.  My ankle is a bit messed up so I need a cardio break.  So going to weigh train a bit and get my eating on track.  I have eaten at home two nights now.  Much better than last week.  So far I am doing good.  Trying to make small goals that will get me to my big goal.  I realized today that I needed a big goal to strive for and not just little ones so when I want that cake I can look at my big goal and say no.  Saying no is the hard part.  The big goal (not end goal) is to be healthy and fit by my next birthday (1 year).  I will have a healthy fit body like my Oxygen Magazine ladies.  I don't want to just be skinny.  I'm not going for a weight on the scale.  I'm going for a look.  I  going to keep the pictures and motivation around me because that seems to help.  And I'm going to keep pushing forward.  Working out isn't the problem.  Eating is... notice the theme over the last couple posts.  So tonight is Chest and tri's.  Going to get it done.

Food for thought....Literally

So the hardest part about any new lifestyle change is the change...
Yeah that sounds stupid but it's true.  Habits are hard to break, it's why they are habits.  Our biggest vice is eating out.  We do it alot.  Way more than we should.  Way more than anyone should.  So I shouldn't question why I'm still sitting at 165 after months of "trying" when really I try for a couple days maybe a week and then fail and binge for another week.  No not a healthy way to go.  Again like I said before I wish my switch worked like others and I can just one day wake up and eat clean and healthy.  But I'm not good like that.  I need to baby step my way into this.  I know most won't agree but I'm tired of failing and really want to make changes.  So as a new found effort to make the change I am making one at a time.  So I'm setting some easy goals to get me started.

GOALS:
1.) Cook at home Monday-Friday.
2.) Only Saturday or Sunday will be an eat out day and only one meal.
3.) Do this for one month and then adjust the goal based on progress.
4.) Only cook real unprocessed foods.  Nothing from a box.
5.) Carbs are ok but not every meal.  Try to limit to one meal a day.
6.) Learn to prep on the weekends.  This one is only a maybe since it won't matter in two months.

So there are my food goals.  By getting my eating on track I should start seeing results.  Put that together with a solid gym routine and I will be set.

My third official 5K

Saturday I did a 5K Coast Guard Remembrance run.  It was great.  Well it was tough, lets be honest.  As far as I have come I still am not a "leader of the pack" type runner.  I was at the back.  But it wasn't about winning or coming in first.  It was about going out there and doing it and finishing it for those fallen Coasties that can't.  It was about being bigger than me.  And it was tough.  I dropped my phone, and wanted so bad to walk.  I wanted to stop.  But my shipmates kept me going, they encouraged me when I was wanting to walk.  I managed to do the 3.1 in 36 mins.  That is a new personal record and I am proud that I finished, running 99% of the race and averaging an 11.4 min mile.  Honestly that is great for me.  I'm not trying to win, just finish.  And I did it.  It is more than those still in bed or sitting on the couch.  I have been super hungry ever since LOL.  But hope to get on track with eating tomorrow and this week while the hubby is out of town.  So much stress and sleepless nights, cooking isn't my thing right now.  But our budget and my waist are screaming at me.  The hard part is I want to be one of those people.  You know the type, those ones that just one day put down the cake and walk away from the unhealthy eating.  I know the eating is my biggest hurdle and I wish it was as easy as flipping a switch.  But those addictions are hard.  And I need more will power.  I need to say no more.  If you say no enough, saying yes becomes difficult.  I just need to push through the next month and I know I will be healthier for it.  So tomorrow I will turn another chapter and try again.  I will get a new routine at work and hopefully incorporate my workouts into my work day.  Wish me luck.  I will ease into paleo and make a healthy, happy example for my kids.

3.1 virtual 5K

Finished my virtual 5k with the the Another Mother Runner community that I spoke of earlier.  I finished my 3.1 in 40 mins.  I had my family with me and hubby hurried ahead at the end to cheer me to the finish :).  It was super cute.  It was our start to the Mother's Day festivities.  I was really happy with my progress and time.  I am out there getting it done.  If I keep going and adding mileage I should be able to do a 10K by the end of the year.  What a goal.  Now to find one to sign up for LOL.  And pull out my Train like a Mother book for the training plan.  I have my CG Run2Remember next weekend so I'm looking forward to that.  Overall I'm proud of myself and can't wait to see how much better I get over the summer.  Next week I am starting week 2 of Ripped in 30.  I will do level 1 today to finish out the week.  I took Friday as a rest day and will have done Ripped in 30 5 days this week.  My goals for the rest of the month is to workout 6 times a week.  Running 3x a week and Ripped in 30 5-6 times per week.  I hope to be below 160 before June 18th when we move out of the house.  I think it's good to have goals and strive for them.  Also hope to eat Paleo for the next 30 days.  Really unless I give it an honest try I will never know.  A week here or there isn't a good gauge.  I just need to buckle down and commit.  If I want to no longer feel and look the way I do then I have to make the changes.  No amount of excuses are going to make it happen.  I am very stuck at 165 and I hate the way I feel.  I love how my working out makes me feel but I ruin all that effort with a junk diet.  Time to clean up my act, literally.

Back on track

So after the week of crazy and not getting a single workout in I got my butt moving today.  I went for a run walk with hubby so it wasn't my normal but it was good for my soul :).  Burned about 200 calories.  I then decided to change it up.  I have never actually completed Ripped in 30 so I thought I would give it a go for a change in pace.  I have done 30 day shred and I like it but I needed something fun and fresh.  It kicked my butt for sure.  I really like that I can do this M-F and their are 4 workouts so one each week for a month.  Works good for me.
Food for today I had a travel bowl of rice krispie cereal and some sort of muffin (not the top).
I had left over steak, lettuce, cheese, olives, avocado for lunch.
I had carne asada chimichanga for lunch (about 3/4 of it).

Overall a decent eating day and a good workout day.  I'm going to do a morning workout at the gym on base since the weather is so hot being outside running kinda sucked.  Yeah I don't know how I will handle Texas heat and run.  It will be a new challenge that I will overcome.

The week that we all have

You know those weeks where the hours at work get crazy and the days get to long.  Those weeks where you don't make the time for the workout and you feel like poo and can't sleep and it becomes a vicious cycle.  Yeah that was my week.  Getting home at 530 at night really through my whole routine off.  But you know what?  One off week isn't how I got to be 166 pounds.  Week after week of sitting on my bottom is how I got to be out of shape and 166 pounds at 33 years of age.  So tomorrow I'm gonna "lace" up my running shoes and kick my lazy butt in gear.  I will do a run in the morning and some shred tomorrow night.  My schedule should remain fairly constant the rest of the month.  So here is to getting my workout on and eating healthy.  Plus we need to eat down our pantry so we can move the household good in 6 weeks.  Busy, busy.

My best run ever!

I ran today, just like I was supposed to go for a run.  I decided I would listen to my music and just let my body dictate how my run when.  I was in a super "don't wanna" mood.  So I thought for sure I would be walking in no time.  I put my music in and my phone in my pocket with mapmyrun running.  And as the 5 min increments ticked away I just kept going.  My inspiration songs came on just when I seemed to need them the most and I ran for 30 mins without stopping!  I have never run for 30 mins without stopping.  I have never run 2.5 miles without stopping.  And yet today I did both of those things.  I have been stopping and starting for so many years and to finally accomplish this just feels so great.  I have not decided if I am going to shred tonight or not but will post again if I do.  The big thing was to put down my thoughts and pride in myself about what I accomplished.  I'm thankful for friends and family being supportive and for the Train like a mother series to give me the tools and encouragement to get it done.  At the end of my run a pinterest motivation popped in my head "Now punch that Laziness in the face and have a great day!"  I tried to post it but they have changed how they do it :(  I'm not sure but will work to figure out how to post them again.

Bike ride!

I got on my bike today.  I haven't ridden in months.  Probably not since last fall.  So my bottom for sure needs to get used to it.  We did 42 mins and rode 7.5 miles.  It is less than I wanted for distance but good for time.  And I did not shred today.  I was feeling dizzy and tired so I took the time to spend with my family and take care of my beautiful sick baby.  But I still got a workout in and stayed under on calories!  So I am pushing myself.  I am going to keep rockin the workouts and going to reach my goal before we move.  Goal would be to reach the 130's before we move in July.  Had some carbs today and a yummy paleo taco salad for dinner.  Feeling good about tomorrow.

Day 3 complete :)

I am rockin' this!!  I did great with my eating even if my "calories" are low.  I ate paleo and honestly don't feel hungry.  I was oh so tempted this morning while making the kids some toast to induldge.  But I didn't.  I had ham and eggs for breakfast with some coffee.  I had steak and hard boiled eggs for lunch.  And dinner was a yummy lemon artichoke chicken with green beans and salad.  I had a few strawberries too :).  Overall a great day.  Did day 3 of the 30 day shred and am feeling good.  I did not do extra cardio today since I had Kaitlynn all day and she was sick poor baby.  But I hope to get on my bike tomorrow for a ride probably about 60 mins and do day 4 of the shred :).  I also caught up on laundry (4 loads done) and went to the dr and grocery store.  A very productive day.  I was 162.7 this morning...

Day 2

Day 2 done!  I am so proud of me!  I had a yummy omelet this morning with spinach, eggs, mushrooms, and ham with a side of strawberries and raspberries.  I had a luna bar before my run this afternoon then ran 2.5 miles in 30 mins.  This is a great time for me as I am getting faster.  Average was 12 min/mile.  Then came home and made flank steak from the body for life book, artichokes, and broccoli.  Ate a few strawberries :) and made my steak and broccoli lunch for tomorrow.  A few hardboiled eggs for a snack for tomorrow and deviled eggs for DH.  I had 2 :) to make sure they weren't poison haha.  Overall a very healthy paleo day with two great workouts.  Might not walk well tomorrow but I will keep pushing because I am worth it.  Going to bed early tonight so I can get more sleep.  Feeling better than I have in weeks.

30 Day shred day 1

I really just need to force myself to make this change.  I can keep making excuses or I can get my butt going.  I keep praying the motivation will come and it just doesn't.  So that just means I have to do it regardless.  Right now I am going to do the shred for 30 days, clean up my eating and probably some extra cardio in the mornings.  After that I will do ripped in 30 and then we have to move/live in a hotel. At that point I will have to figure something else out.  I should be working on base though so hopefully I will get more workout time and can do some weights in the gym.  If I really clean up my eating I can lose 20-30 pounds in the next 60 days.  I really have to clean up my eating though.  What I am currently doing is so not going to get me the body I am looking to achieve.  Moving to hot weather means I want to wear clothes that aren't so good at hiding.  I don't like shorts because I have fat thighs and they ride up and chaff.  So the cure, is to lose weight so I can be comfy in shorts and tank tops.  So here is to lack of motivation but lots of determination to not let my motivation push me around anymore.  Here is to getting off my 165 pound butt and doing something about it instead of wishing it would just happen.  Thinking of doing a shake in the morning, fast and healthy and gets me some nutrition before I do some cardio.  Weekends I can do more paleo friendly breakfasts.  I am going to wean off of the carbs.  I know that my body hates them and I feel better when I am not stuffing my face with them.  I know all the things to do to achieve my goal.  I just have to stop talking myself out of it and start talking myself into healthy living.

The morning run

So this morning I was determined to go for a run. I needed it. And I was going to try to run more than I walked. Well success was achieved. I ran for 15 mins, took a 1 min walk and then finished another 15 min run. It felt so great! I just need to keep pushing.

Last week of March

This week has gone way better than the last two.  Starting and stopping isn't a good way to start a running program.  But I think I found my groove.  I ran 3 days last week Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  Plus I did my cross training on Tuesday and Thursday.  Took Friday off and hope to get a workout in today.  Some sort of cross training.  I got a new book Practical Paleo and I am super excited to get cooking :).  I did at least two miles each time I ran and am proud that I did it despite not being in "the mood".  I also ran for 10 mins straight yesterday.  My map my run app stopped calculating and it threw me off.  So DH took the stroller with the screaming 18 month old and just let me do my thing.  I just kind of went and forgot about time or walking or anything.  Today I feel great.  My shins don't hurt and I feel like I'm making progress.  It's a great feeling.  Being up to 166 isn't great but I will be ok.  So there is my update.  I am going to try to be better about posting.  Ugh I used to be great at it LOL.  No time lately to do anything it seems.

Monday

So I got my run in this morning but didn't eat before hand.  It really showed because I only did 1.75 miles in my 30 mins and usually I do 2.25-2.5 in that time outside.  So I for sure should eat before working out in the mornings.  Other than that it was great to get it out of the way early.

Off to a rough start

It's been a rough start to my new training program.  But I am determined to not let this stop me or deter me from my goal of getting healthy.  I will beat this depression and this weight.  I will not let my mood determine my course of action.  It's not what is how this will work.  Tomorrow I will go for a run with my family and I will make my health a bigger priority.  I won't move to Texas the same person I am now.  I am super excited about my virtual 5K training though.  Next week will go smoother.

Emotional roller coaster day

Soooo the XT day on my schedule isn't going to happen.  I'm just gonna throw that out there right now.  I have had one heck of a day and really just need to spend time on the couch with the hubby snuggling.  I'm XT my emotions LOL.  It's not really that funny but it is a little.  I will get my run in tomorrow.  I won't let this one bad day sideline what I am trying to do.  I might even try to do a treadmill workout tomorrow in the morning just to get it knocked out.  You don't have to be perfect everyday.  But you do have to keep moving forward.

Monday 3/4/13

Got my first run in yesterday for my10 week training plan. I am glad I did it. It was a great feeling once I was done. I can tell I'm out of shape for sure. My weight is up to 162.3 and all my other measurements are up around my waist and hips. I shouldn't be surprised I haven't worked out in months. I am back on track now though. I am going to do kettle bells today after work before I go get the kids. I'm tired of feeling tired.
Yesterday I did 2.11 miles in 30mins walking 4min and running 2mins running.

New challenge to get me moving

So I signed up for two things today.  One is the Mother Runner virtual 5K training.
And the other is a remembrance run for Fallen Coast Guardsmen.  The virtual 5k matches up perfectly with the 5k on the 18th.  So I hope that between the two I will get through this training plan once and for all, lose some weight, and be more healthy than I am now.  I will be starting Monday March 4th.  So that means this weekend I have to plan my workouts, plan my meals and go grocery shopping.  Gotta set myself up for success so I don't trip and fall.  I have been a little back and forth but I think I finally found something to get me on track.
